I own a little over 3 acres of land, which is not much but I love it. In a couple of years we are going to buy at least 20 acres. What we have now is not bad for a starter home. We are the kind of people that don't care about the house, we live in an 11 year old doublewide trailer, it's a nice one though over 1800 sq ft. We bought this property for the land. Our house is surrounded by trees and we can't see any other houses in the summer.

Here's a shot from our "drinkin spot" next to our shed aka my soap shop:

I just thought I would share.

You're right, it's you own little piece of heaven, it's very nice. We've got 15 acres but about 8 of it is marsh...pond. So the wildlife is awesome but I feel like I have so much land that I can't use. Would love to have a steer and a couple of horses but I think I'll have to settle for a couple of pigs (future food) LOL and my chickens

---Wish I was your neighbor, I'd love to try some of that moonshine but would probably knock me on my ass!! LOL....Seeing I'm a beer drinker!!! Talk to you soon! Take care!

It's a weeping willow. We bought it as a baby last year. It was only about 6' then. It's about 12' now.

Thanks for looking at my site! I have some new soaps coming soon. I recently quit my part time job to focus more on my business. I made a Chamomile and Calendula soap. It's wonderful.. It will be about 3 weeks before it's ready to sell though. I let my soaps cure for 4 weeks before I sell them, it insures you'll get a mild, hard bar of soap.

Lets not get started on a beer making thread. Best part is the Hammock so you can watch the chickens, do you let them out or do they stay in coop all the time, I assume you have owl problems since alll the netting, hope your little spot stays that way we bought our 4 acres in the middle of nowhere, corn and bean fields on 2 sides a church and sanctuary on other 2. Farm across road sold and got informed they plan to put in 1600 houses and a mini mall, on 350 acres.

They stay in the "chicken yard" it's 40'x50'. The only predator problem I've had so far is black snakes. We are surrounded by houses (all of our neighbors have 3 to 15 acres in our road) so there's no 1600 houses going up here. Unfortunately my state is becoming overrun with people so our 20 plus acres will be at least a hour east of where we are now. There are still parts of NC that are so rural you can drive 10 miles without seeing 1 house. That's where we'll probably end up.
