My parakeet is fading!

Hi everyone! I am going to get my parakeet a buddy tomorrow and I am super excited!! But today I noticed that her color is not has vibrate as it was when she was at the pet store!! She is on the same food! And I give her a chance to take a bath but she won’t! Is she malnourished? Is there something else I could be doing!! She is almost a year old!! What is fading her color??

I don’t know! I don’t think so! I’ve never seen a parakeet moly before! Does it look like a chicken molting m?

Not really looking like a chicken molt. You would have seen lots of feathers on the bottom of the cage and maybe some feathers with sheaths still on.
Hookbills are good at fully grooming so they clean those off quickly.

When mine molt I know it. Because mine go outside in early summer they always molt right after I bring them back inside. There will be feathers everywhere. My parrot also molts generally in the fall, but sometimes in the spring too. I would assume length of daylight triggers molts in budgies the same as in other species.

I know my Cockatiel molts twice a year. Before he does he gets dull looking. Some molts he loses his wing and a few tail feathers. I buy him a bag of Budgie molting seed for during his molts. Im sure your bird will be okay..
