My duck, Charlie, just started having green poo yesterday, but it has gotten brighter and more frequent. In May, she started having egg laying issues. She was egg bound at first, but then later, we found fluid in her abdomen. She has seen a vet multiple times. She was diagnosed with egg peritonitis. I have her checked monthly for fluid build up. She was drained today, but since then she's been pooping green poo. Her vet was concerned about her liver back in May. Charlie had green poo then, too, but not as much. I give her milk thistle tablets, and she's currently on Baytril and Clindamycin for her infection. Is there anything else I can do to help her liver? She eats and drinks well, and she eats peas, Kale, duck food, and as a snack to put her medicine in, mac n cheese. Please don't judge me. It's hard giving animals medicine. She is a house duck, so there's no risk in her eating something she shouldn't outside. When she does go outside, she is always supervised.

i’m so sorry about your duck-
with a diagnosis of egg peritonitis the prognosis is not good. i’ve had 2 ducks in the past ten years that had it, and they each lived another 6 months or so with a few rounds of antibiotics that helped only temporarily and gave them a few more good months of life but kept getting sicker again, then passed on. the bright green poop is not a good sign. give her love, comforting measures. my last duck that died from it wanted to be with the flock but she got so weak. I was worried they would trample her so I put her in a crate next to the other ducks so she could see them and it gave her comfort. I wish I could give you more hope for her recovery but in my experience it sounds like her body is shutting down. What did your vet say? near the end of my ducks lives i stopped giving medicines it seemed like i was just torturing her when she was dying anyway. i’m so sorry.

how’s Charlie doing?
Her poo is back to normal, but since her vet is not overly familiar with reproductive issues in ducks, I'm taking Charlie to another vet 4 hours away from me next week. I want to do everything possible to help her. As we all know on here, these birds are family. Thank you for asking!

Wow that’s so wonderful! 4 hours away is a lot! There’s no avian vets closet than that? Yet you are amazing to take her even though. God bless you and Charlie. Please keep us updated !

I have a couple of avian vets near me, but they both say this is beyond their expertise. Charlie might need surgery, and neither vet feels comfortable doing that on her. She means a lot to me, and they don't want to risk it. Thank you, I will keep everyone updated.
