My Pet Chicken..Silver Cuckoo Marans..Egg Color??

A few months ago, I ordered some Silver cuckoo Maran chicks from MPC. does anyone else have some laying Cuckoo marans? What color are the eggs?

Being a marans breeder I'm a little against hatchery marans. They don't breed for the beautiful coppery brown color the eggs should have to them. They breed for mass quantaties.... Sooooooo. They should be a dark copper brown.

Thanks. I have been wanting to get some BCMs. Once I get my barn built, I will get some.

I got some Marans (cuckoos, and BCM) from MPC, but they are only 15 weeks old, so I will have to wait and see.

How old are yours?

Mine are two months.(about 10 weeks) Shipped July 1st.

My Gerty is a cuckoo Maran but her eggs are sometimes quite dark and sometimes they are as light brown as my PR/RIR? Oh well? - I have a new Cuckoo Maran chick who is often sadly ill but weve managed to get her to 13 weeks now so i hope she may go on to lay good dark brown eggs one day?
Does diet it make a difference to the shade of egg - ?

Oesdog - Gerty is deffinately a Cookoo Maran and so is the new chick.
