I have been wanting to get a nice coop to keep my banty birds in and I came across an offer I just couldn't resist. I bought a 4 yr. old 8 x 8 playhouse. Built by my neighbor and they are moving and wanted to get rid of it. Very well made. 2 huge windows and new vinyl siding and shingles. This guy built his own house so he's very good. I got it for $250! I couldn't even buy the materials for that. So I'm so excited to get my banty chickens out of the crappy banty house (it sits on the other side of my big coop) I have for them now that I went to town tonight and I stopped at the flooring place that we just bought carpet from and believe it or not her gave me the vinyl flooring I needed. Walmart clearance isle had tan and blue. My favorite colors and I plan to paint the trim and inside.
Put up some roost and henboxes and I'm set. I have some old drawers that I got from city cleanup days and I'll use them for awhile. I've got my plan and I will post pictures. I feel like I stole this thing!
Here are the pics. I will be updating pics as I finish. I plan to do tan trim. Blue accent and blue inside. Eventually blue shutters and window boxes.
Front view: We need a door! Still working out the details on that one. I want something cute.
Can you believe the big roll out window. Chickens are going to have a great view of flowers and garden. Spoiled babies. I think I'm going to go live with them.
Left side: Another nice window. I am going to secure them with wire from the inside.
Inside. Very roomy. That is not drywall but some kind of sturdy board. I had to put some of it back up. The door side is actually board. I'm leaving it up. More wind block.
I am going to be working today!
NEW PICS!
I got the inside painted and linolium down. Roost bar. Chickens are spending the night for the first time tonight. I still have a few details to do but basically it is done. Sorry about the blur. But you can get the idea on what the inside looks like.
Door done. Still need to get the shutters done and the rooster on the door. Maybe this weekend.
I finished it up over the weekend. Wooden shutters with cutout chickens on them.
