I had to buy chicken saddles or aprons off of Amazon because my rooster was doing the same thing to my hens they work really well. The chickens don’t like them at first, but they get used to them and it takes a little bit for the feathers to grow back so be patient.

I agree, the ones off amazon are great! Are your chickies doing better? I just found one with a big scratch under her wing, big assumption of the rooster. Yes, I heard they might not grow feathers back until next mount (fall)

The aprons do seem to be helping, I got one thay goes around it's breast and under wing, seems to stay on well too. I take it off once in a while so she can dust bath. They can still fly, as their wings are out still. Although me other hens backs are starting to look like that too. Sadly I think it's time to cull the rooster.

Good idea to take them off occasionally. Maybe a rotation between the hens.

Supposedly, a rooster will mate 30 times a day. I suspect that that is your problem, and mine. We don't have enough hens. The minimum is 10, and more is better.

I have 6 on the way. It should help.
