I just recently got a light Sussex and a black Minorca, they've been with me 2 days, I believe they are both approx 22-26 weeks old. For the first day I kept them in a small coop with a small run but today I've allowed them to roam about a pen approx 15'x15' and I've noticed that the Minorca is walking funny and sitting down a lot, her eyes are bright and she's eating and drinking ok, she'll walk normally for a few paces and then walks down on her honkers as if the bottom of her feet hurt then lie down! I have examined her and felt her all over and she isn't in any pain, her wings stretch out fully and she isn't wincing if I apply pressure to her back, thighs or legs? Because she was in a small run I didn't see a great range of movement until today, they will both eventually free range when my other hens and Rooster get used to them! She has no obvious injuries, has anyone experienced this before?

maybe she has something in her foot. Check, put her on her back. This relaxes chickens and helps them calm down. Move her leg back and forth, both of them. If there is something in her foot get her chicken socks

Interestingly I got four marans at four months and the cockerel and one of the pullets) did this for the first week, the cockerel continued for a further week and was growing greatly, I put it down to growth spurts and still developing the muscle in the leg to carry their heavier bodies, both did the set back on hocks and laid down a lot. all Ok now, at the time they ate and looked healthy, but also probably a bit stressed due to move and tow hour journey in a box in my car from picking up at the breeder. Maybe just temporary
