Well, thought I would post pictures of my ducks that I have currently. We ended up getting this pair since we would not be getting the 10 Welsh Harlequins we ordered until mid May. Also thought I'd show off my water mess containment system.
Seen here sitting in the water mess containment system is PaQuack and George at the outside. The pan is one of those rubber pans with an open section cut into it for access.. Oh... About a 3rd of the pan wide and half way down. This allows the ducklings easy access to the water and traps any that they splash out. To better contain the water that is splashed out, the pan is tilted slightly making the water pool at the back. I clean it once a day. The shavings are dry.
Wider shot showing the full method as well as the heat lamp, though shutting it off soon. They're inside [beside my desk actually] so they don't need the heat. They see me all the time [as I work from home], so hoping they'll be fairly tame.
Someone's being shy.
Here are some pictures from a couple days ago. Let them take a swim in the frog pong that's outside by the side door in one of our garden spots.
Man... Ducks grow so fast. I thought chickens were bad, but this? Eeesh... It's absurd. And what is it with the explosive poop? They get up, do a backwards wiggle and then I swear they're propelled forward back into their original spot when they poop. It's like a propulsion system.
Currently they're both hunkered down inside the mess containment system pan sleeping.
