My roo crows all day!

He is 10 weeks old and he struts around all day crowing. Is this normal?

My roo crows all day too. Some do, some don't.

There's no such thing as "normal" when it comes to chickens.

Whew, we were wondering if he was normal. Sometimes at the end of the day it sounds like his voice is cracking because he's used it all day.

Oh thank goodness. I was beginning to worry if he suffered from some sort of paranoia! He is constantly up on the pig fun posts crowing or up on a chair.
I can't wait to tell dh.

They dont need a sunrise or rustic windmill to crow. They are not alarm clocks, either.

They crow in response to certain stimuli, both biologic and environmental that we only dimly recognize.

And as you've noted, they do it whenever they are compelled to. A force of Nature, that.

Our roo will do that. You will be walking around, it has been quiet for hours and suddenly from out of nowhere...Cock-a-doodle-do!

I am so glad we got a roo, it adds another lever to the social structure that makes everything so funny to watch.

Mine ( all 5 of them ) take turns all night but, close to 5:30 when it's time to be let out of the coop they are all crowing to the man.
