my rooster died Sunday

My rooster died Sunday, he had problems breathing,he would open his mouth like he could not get enough air and got to where he would not eat much at all. his crowing sounded awful. his poop was yellow wiyh bright green in it. It has been raining alot and cold here. What do you think could have been wrong with him? And do i need to worry about my chickens catching it?

Sorry that your first visit to BYC has to be about such a sad situation. We've got plenty of helpful folks here that I'm sure will have this thread filled to the brim with ideas and advice by this afternoon.

I agree with Mahonri that you should keep an eye on the rest of your flock. It would also be a good idea to clean your waterer (use a light bleach solution and rinse very well) and change the bedding in their coop. Try to eliminate as many sources of germs as possible in case the sickness could pass on to other members of your flock.

green diarrhea - Leucocytozoonosis
green diarrhea - Pullorum
green droppings capped with lge amts of white urates - Infectious Synovitis
greenish / yellow diarrhea - Chlamydiosis
greenish / yellow diarrhea - Cholera (acute
greenish / yellow diarrhea - Erysipelas
greenish diarrhea - Influenza
light yellow or yellowish green - Fowl typhoid
light yellow or yellowish green - Fowl Cholera
sulphur yellow - Blackhead
yellow diarrhea - Colibacillosis
yellow diarrhea - Ochratozicosis
yellow diarrhea - Streptococcosis
yellow green diarrhea with large amounts of white urates - Spirochetosis
yellow greenish diarrhea - Chlamydiosis
yellowish droppings - CRD
