My rooster has lost his cock-adoodle-doo

My Scots Dumpy bantam rooster sounds as if he has a sore throat.
He coughs and kinks after he very quietly says good morning.
Hes in perfect health otherwise and is trotting around with the girls as usual.
Any suggestions as to what could be wrong ??
I'm new to keeping hens so I rang our vet.
And she thought I was pulling her leg!!!

could just be a cold. i would use poultry RX bought at your feed store. you add to warm water and mist spray near their nostrils and helps clear them up. its like vicks vapor rub for chickens. it also makes the coop smell nice
