My rooster is eye pinning when i say his name

I must be very unobservant because I have never noticed a chicken doing this. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it 😆
It's not that easy to see with a lot of chickens unless they're right up in your face with the eye pointed right at you. Darker iris colors also make it very hard to spot eye pinning even with the chicken in your face.

I do not allow chickens in my face so that explains it. I haven’t had a lap chicken in years since my Delawares decided I made a good perch whenever I sat on the porch.

I have noticed this in my CX pullets and actually got it on video. Definitely out of excitement for seeing me, as I give them food and they do fall asleep next to me.

I also noticed one of my mature hens doing this to my rooster.

I've never gotten close enough to their face to notice their eyes dilating but I would def keep an eye on one who kept his eyes on me.
Roosters aren't known for being warm and fuzzy around the hens
That is so true, and this rooster I have is quite nice. No lap sitting or anything like that but he runs to me when I go out. I quite like him and I hven't liked a rooster in a while
