My rooster is starting to get mean and biting my girls?

The past few weeks I have noticed my rooster is starting to get aggressive...He is now charging at us and biting the hens if they get in his way...what is his problem? Any help would be great!!

How old is he? Many roosters do go through a "raging teenage hormone" stage before they mature. During that time they will challenge you whenever the mood strikes and they are often not very good with the hens, somtimes being to rough or uncoordinated. I keep an eye on roo's like that, if they settle down after they are about a year old and respond to training about not attacking me then they stay. If they don't grow out of it and continue attacking me or being to rough on the hens then they get the boot.

He is 5 months old...I am ok with him being aggressive with myself or husband because we show him who is boss and he turns and runs away...But he is now charging by 2 girls and really biting at the hen's...I have left him in the run the past few days when I let the hens out to free range...and he gets mad...Not sure what to do with him?

What breed is he? Do you have another rooster in your flock that you can separate him with in a bachelor pen? This is about the age they star getting randy, and it is one thing for him to get rough with the hens, but it is something else if he is getting people aggressive. We had to get rid of our head guy last year at 7 months because of that issue, and it was tough because he was a handsome black copper maran.

He is a white leghorn...yes we have another roo he is a RR but he is very quiet and is great with the hens...if I put the 2 boys together alone will they fight? Does he hurt the hens when he pecks at them because they sr4eam and run away from him...I am new to all this!!

Well the rooster went into his own cage tonight...he beat up on my girls long enough...maybe time away from them will calm his butt down

Do you really need two roosters. Any rooster that attacks humans around here earns a ticket to a new existence A rooster's spurs and claws can do serious damage. A child's face is frequently the rooster's target.

I should have made it very clear..."my girls" that I refer to are the hens...my children I am not allowing around them...and No i dont need the roosters they are going to disappear next weekend

If you still have him I would love to take him off your hands. We just lost our yard rooster, and now 2 weeks later just had raccoons slaughter a dozen chickens! I live in Ohio please let me know!!
