I have a 14 month old Sebright hen. She is going broody for the second time since January. I can't figure her out. Aren't Sebrights supposed to be flaky, non-broody, terrible mothers?
She is in the same nest box as my broody cochin hen. This should be fun!

Yeah, I feel your pain. I have/had a chronic GLW broody that I have been trying to break for 4 years. I now finally need a broody and she won't go broody on me. And my pathetic BO that has been broody since last summer has finally stopped as well. For the first time in 4 years, I need a broody, and there's none to be found in my entire flock.

ARGH!!! When you need them there's none to be found, and when you don't want them they're everywhere.

Good luck with yours. Wish me luck with mine.

I have one girl who goes broody about every 6 weeks . . . she just starts to lay eggs again and then she is back at it . . . a fluffed up pancake in the nest box. She makes me nuts!

Oh, for the love of god! Every SIX WEEKS! I hope she doesn't do that. Its bad enough she and her golden laced cochin pal, Panic, are sitting in the same nest box. I tossed them out the chicken door twice today. They are a mess!
