For the past couple of weeks I've noticed one of my silkie hens has been peering in a way? I know chickens can't Pee this is why I'm concerned. She has clear liquid coming out of her vent. I'm not even sure if shes pooping to be honest. Also everytime I hold her she she almost always "pees" that clear liquid on me. Any ideas on what this is or what's wrong?

glad you asked this question as one of my 3 year old hens is doing the same

its a large amount of white liquid almost like a good heavy pee

is it just age

has she been laying? is her abdomen swollen? she could possibly be laying internally and there is a large amount of liquid in the abdomen. have you noticed if the abdomen is swollen or warm to touch. its likely she has an infection inside the abdomen. this is my best guess. how much liquid comes out? does it have a smell? is it always clear? this if it is what's going on is brought on from laying internally and called egg yolk peritonitis. egg albumin and yolks accumulate in the abdomen. causing infection and an accumulation of fluids in the abdomen. some has been successful in draining the abdomen with a syringe. I'm not sure this is what is happening with your bird but peritonitis comes to mind if liquid is draining from the vent area. not sure though. perhaps someone else has another possibility?

hmm that's a good point to note the

to follow on to this to help OP and myself

with my hen internal sounds very likely as I don't know if she is laying but one thing I did notice which the OP could look into is

when the liquid was excreted it looked like albumen and it was a hot sunny day and dried to a white consistency like egg white

OP is it same for you

Im not sure if shes been laying maybe I should seperate her. Also today I took her outside and when she went it wasn't clear this time it was brow. So i guess really watery poop?
