does anyone know of any good reasons why my silkies aren't laying anymore.
I have 18 hens and not 1 egg. They have been wormed. They have a heat lamp.
None of them act sick. Not sure why I am not getting any eggs. Do SQ silkies lay less eggs
or stop laying when it gets cold. When I had PQ silkies they layed all year. I sold all of them
and have only SQ now and now no eggs.

Please does anyone know of a solution to this.

Shorter days, less light, colder temps, change in living conditions, or stress can all cause this.

I've had some birds lay all year and some not. It's sorta random. Unless there is sign of disease I wouldn't worry.

I guess thats what I get for wanting SQ only....

thanks for your help.

Yep, if you want reliable layers go back to PQ. Seems SQ birds are very sporadic layers. You practically have to beat the eggs out of them.

LOL..... I guess so. You would think with so many hens I would get at least 1 egg.

My beautiful Splash Silkies laid absolutely NOTHING from May until last week. And I fed them good, gave them treats, fruits, veggies, yogurt, wheat germ, flax seeds, you name it! Nothing! They just NOW started laying (probably hoping my incubator was off, nasty hens!!).

My bator is still running. I do the same for feed. There killing me on the feed cost.
