My silver laces are losing a lot of their feathers we live in Sacramento and where about a hundred and two everyday

Getting upset there's no signs of injury or anything just I've been noticing a little piles of feathers all over the yard we think they're molting I don't think that they molt in the summer do they?

How old are they? Could they be molting?

My girls are about seven or eight years old it's not the Dominique or the Easter Eggers either it's just my silver laces.
No I do suppose they could be over preening and maybe they're plucking them out on accident

I was wrong there's one or two pumps of feathers that are from my Dominique

I am in FL where too it is extremely hot and my buff orpington has begun to molt as well. She usually begins in August, so figure she's just a bit ahead of her schedule this year. We've been hot since February, so think she's done with Summer like me!
