My son is going to State Fair with his Runners!!!

My son and his Grand Champion Breeding Ducks, Grand Champion Overall Poultry and he won another Grand Champion Poultry award with them too. Yes, he looks oh so thrilled in the pic, but lack of sleep and heat played a huge part in it.
The judge absolutely loved the runners. They are not standing as they should in the pic but they do stand tall.

Well done to your son ( a win is certainly good to keep the enthusiasm alive- my daughter recently beat me at a show with her birds which seems to have really re- ignited her passion for poultry )

I always take photos first thing in the morning after I have penned my birds- thats when they always look the freshest and best. By the end of day when there is a ribbon on the cage and I want to proudly take a photo- of course they let me down.

I wish there was more of a mentoring program here for younger breeders- I hope your son does continue and has great success breeding and showing Runners. I have had dicks for 32 years- but have only been showing for 3 now- and wonder why I never took it up years ago. It really can be a great social day as well as a chance to network and learn more about where you can improve your birds.
