I have 6 chicks (3 red sex-link and 3 RI Red) that are about 4 weeks old. We were going to start building their coop tomorrow. I just found out, via town ordinances listed on our town website, that we are in zone R-30 and chickens are NOT allowed.
ANIMALS: No animals are allowed in this zone other than dogs, cats, or household
pets kept within the home.
At this point, I think I am going to just do it and hope I don't get caught. Most of my town is listed as residential-agricultural, and I really thought I was fine. By examining our zoning map online, it turns out I am in this little splotch of R-30. I am very surprised

I am in Connecticut, but don't want to say what town I live in because I don't want to get caught.
