Mysterious spot on yolk

Hi!
I cracked an egg from one of my easter eggers this morning and it had a very strange spot on the yolk. It almost looks like mold? I collected it first thing this morning. Has anyone experienced this? I hemmed and hawed and ended up tossing it because I wasn’t sure.

This article talks about many odd things that can happen with eggs. The section titled "meat spots" is closest to what you found.

It should be safe to eat, but if you find it gross you can pick out the different part, or cook the egg and feed it back to the chickens. They won't care how it looks, and it will not hurt them in any way.
