A breeder I bought some hatching eggs and chicks from gave me this chick as a freebie. She wasn't sure what it is (she either got it in a rare breeds hatchery deal or hatched it from eggs she got from someone else, I can't remember which). She thought it might be a speckled Sussex, but she doesn't look anything like my 2 week old Sussexes. I also thought she said this chick was a month old, but she's the same size as my 2 week olds and has no tail feathers yet. Could she be a bantam of some kind? Any help identifying is appreciated!

As for breed, I’m not sure, but it’s really pretty!! I don’t think it’s a month old. Those wing feathers are gorgeous and it’s gonna be a great looking bird!

It sort of reminds me of a female Cream Legbar, but with more speckles. Maybe a mix??

The lady who gave her to me said she was a pure breed, she just wasn't sure which breed.

Gotcha. In that case, I’d say that it’s possible she’s an SS whose speckles haven’t come in all the way.

Maybe a speckled Sussex they don’t get their speckles till a little later!
She may be a speckled Sussex, she just doesn't look like my other speckled Sussex Chicks at all! They all are getting their tail feathers in at 2 weeks, and this chick still just has a little fluffy nub in back. She also has the speckles around her eyes and my other don't. My other came from a hatchery so maybe the quality is just different, but to me they just don't look much alike. I've attached a pic of one of my other Sussexes as a comparison. (She was getting pecked above her tail feathers and is isolated right now).

Yes but maybe she I just a little slower!

Wait... Could she be a Campine? This might be a long shot but it looks kind of similar.

Hm, they do look somewhat similar. Possibly! I was actually originally planning on getting some campines but ended up getting too many other breeds. That would be nice if she ended up being one.
