Mystery chick

I received 2 chicks from my daughter's school. So cute, but no one knows what bread they are!
I have 4 layers, 3 Ees and one BO- and these chicks look nothing like them when they were chicks.
Any suggestions?

My DD says this looks almost exactly like our RIRs did at that age.

It's an in-between age when it's difficult to determine age, gender, and breed; ours are about 3.5 mos and definitely look like RIRs now.

I am guessing a production red. It is kind of a tough age but that is my best, somewhat educated, guess. Mine were all "long legged" like your chick.

If there are some white feathers coming in on the tips of the wings, tail, and neck feathers, I would say Production Red (or one of the other 50 names that hybrid is given) or New Hampshire red. They're lighter in color than a RIR's, though it could be a RIR as well.
