Mystery Chicks, Please Advise

Sooo.... A friend of my mother got some chicks from her friend who got them from an unknown store downtown. And now she wants to pass them on to me.
She's had them for a week or two already.

In short, beyond that, I have no idea about their age, gender, or breed.

Also, how nervous should I be about disease? If I keep them separate from the rest of my chickens for a while is that enough?

Please advise.

Their starting to get their feathers, so i'd guess a week or older at least. Though some chicks can start earlier to. I don't know their breed, but I do know that there is a possibility the could be carrying illness and should be kept in quarantine for a week or more.
