I'm posting this for my brother-in-law.

He purchased some chicks from Cal-Ranch labled as ISA Brown. However, the chicks have feathered out white and have begun getting crests. They are clearly not ISA Brown. They look like frost white legbars to me, but I know those are rare and it seems weird that Cal-Ranch would have that breed available and mislabeled as ISA Brown.

Attached are the pictures he sent me. Anyone have any ideas? He doesn't care too much what breed they are, but he's mildly interested to know. I'm probably more curious about it than him at this point 😂

Thank you!

Their site says the majority of their chicks come from Hoover Hatchery.
Hoover doesn't list the Frost White Legbar so this is interesting!

Maybe you should call them and ask if they got chicks from other hatcheries since you say "majority". Perhaps they got more from other places to fill demand.

Fellow CAL ranch purchaser of the mystery chicks here! Mine looks exactly the same. Very curious if we will have some beautiful blue eggs in the coming months! Mine was sold as a Starlight Green Egger, so if his girl ends up laying green, that could be it. I don't have a blue layer in my bunch, so it would be a fun mixup 😁 🤞

Same! I ended trading him for one. Here's to hoping for some gorgeous blue eggs!🤞

Has your girl started laying yet!? Mine is just barely starting to really get red in the comb, and squatted for me today :D the anticipation is killing me haha

I had a little mystery egg show up today, but it was brown so Im hoping it wasn't her and it was from my barnyard mix. My girl has also gotten really red and looks close so hopefully she didn't lay the brown egg and I'll find a blue egg in a few more days 🤞

It's beautiful and blue! 😍 Thinking we lucked out with some frost white legbars! Post pics of your girl's first egg when she lays!
