Also you may either want to hide it, or research the laws, a wild Canadian goose is protected in some states, and you may get fined for having it.

if you cut off one of the back toes, at least in NY, it is legal to have them. We found a dead goose years ago and took her nest home and incubated it. We contacted the DEC and that is what they told us to do, so that would be my advice to you...

Chick with your local game warden or even at the county office, and see if it's legal. Or even check the laws online. I know many states in the spring will get after folks if they steal eggs from a nest. Like mollybuck said maybe trim the back toe, just in case.

The baby is doing great. She is large and healthy. I did have a problem with her trying to eat her little chicken siblings feet and her mamas comb but I think she grew out of that. She loves to eat and especially poop. I will post pics this Weekend.
