Mystery Pests!

Recently my chickens have been scratching there backs, today I looked under their feathers and saw some little light brown insects. I'm not sure what they are and what to do about them. Could they be red mite?

Sounds like mites, clean out their whole coop, scrub it down, then use your dusting/flea&tick spray to dust it. Then spray your hens; vent, under hackles, under wings, and check the oil gland in between their tail feathers and tail coverts. Spray there too.

I hope this helped, there can be other remedies people use to get rid of mites, but this one works fine for me, and I haven't had a mite problem since last July.
