We were away from the house yesterday afternoon. When we returned at dusk one of our hens was not in the coop. This morning I see a few feathers in our yard. There are not too many, it is a small pile.Only one or two are large feathers, almost all of them are the small soft feathers (like the ones underneath her tail feathers).
There are some more down the hillside, but I can't tell if they blew down there (it was windy yesterday afternoon). There are no other traces of anything.
What would grab her and only leave a few feathers? We have had 2 dog attacks (neither fatal) and there were a lot more feathers and many tail feathers.
Our yard is not fenced, and the property adjoins some woods.
Thanks for any thoughts. She was a pretty girl.
