Hi I was hoping people here might be able to suggest anything I could do for my ill polish hen.

Her health has always been problematic since we've had her, her weight has always fluctuated to skinny to near normal. But she has always bounced back if she's gone skinny. She's only ever laid twice but never laid since and that was six months ago.

She's now gone very skinny to the point of having trouble walking because she's weak. I've wormed them about two weeks ago, she has had a partial moult. I've been giving extra vitamins and crushed garlic in their water. She's got no physical injuries and doesn't appear to be in any distress.

I'm at a loss what to do? I'm in the UK.

What's their diet? What did you worm them with?
I'd skip the garlic and push the vitamins.
She's on heygates layers pellets and I wormed them with flubenvet. She is eating and I've also had probiotics put into feed or porridge.

Are her feathers blocking her view, or is she low in pecking order or being bullied by others? She might not be allowed to eat by the others. I have trimmed the feathers around the eyes of my Polish so they could see more clearly. Polish hens can be picked on in mixed flocks. I would take her aside and feed her some moistened chicken feed and a little egg each day, so that she gets a chance to eat. Sometimes a little generic vitamin B complex 1/4 tablet daily can help appetite and overall health.
