Where did you get him? He looks to be a Dixie Rainbow which is a type of meat bird.

Looks like a Dixie Rainbow to me. They are a dual purpose breed, he'll live a normal life.

He is a mix and looks perfectly healthy. I see nothing to indicate the bird is any sort of broiler and going to eat itself to death before unceremoniously dropping dead on you.

There are a lot of breeds that can technically be 'meat birds,' but Cornish crosses are the only ones I've ever heard of dropping dead just from growing. You can even keep those alive for a while with a good avian vet.
