My RIR, Rita, is so tired, has droopy feathers, no appetite (force feeding now), inconsistent poop (first clear like water then solid crumbly), falling asleep every few minutes. Saw the vet yesterday and he is as stumped as I am. Couldn't feel an egg inside. Started 5 days ago...noticed her holding her wings out while walking in the yard. Insights? Suggestions?

It could be cocci and/or worm infestation. Have you wormed her recently? You can add some Food Grade DE to her diet, but that this point I would do a chemcial wormer in 2 doses 10-14 days apart. Follow up with the DE in her diet.

Thanks for your reply. I'm leaning towards worms as well. This isn't my bird but her owner said she just dewormed yesterday with Wazine 17. Since it's one that goes in the drinking water she isn't sure how much medicine, if any, Rita got. Is there one that can be more specific towards each bird? I'm caring for her and force feeding her baby bird food. Could it be a parasite do you think? That's my other wonder. Thanks for the DE reminder. I have some and will give in her next feeding. Her crop is finally full now and she is hydrated. Still very lethargic but seems a tiny bit better. Her tail feathers are up more.

Not much change on Rita's condition. She still can't stay awake. Poop seems normal. I'm still force-feeding through a tube. Waiting to hear from the vet with her lab results of her poop analysis.
