So, I woke up this morning to see the white feathers of my best show hen strewn across the yard.

I go into the coop, and there are feathers EVERYWHERE. But, the back gate and front door were closed. In thee middle of the feathers was my rooster, BUT, he had all his feathers. After inspection, we saw he had been cut in the left side and had TINY bite marks on his leg.

What happened? No animal is smart enough to open out coop, take a hen, but leave a rooster dead, and close the door

Sorry for your loses..

What kind of chickens were they?

Did the area they were in have a top on it,cause lots of critters climb and don't need a door to get in.

Tiny bit marks usually means weasels, do you know if they are in your area? Not sure they could carry off the kill though.
