She just laid... an OLIVE EGG!!! Not a Marans after all! I just knew something was amiss with her comb. So proud of my little Kalamata Lady! ❤

So what color is that egg??Curious how has her laying been, have an opportunity to get Mystic Marans so doing some Intel.

That's a gorgeous egg! I hatched out a few eggs from my Cuckoo Marans hens x Ameracauna rooster; I'm hoping for a darker olive egg color. The resulting pullets are coming up on 6 months old soon.

So what color is that egg??Curious how has her laying been, have an opportunity to get Mystic Marans so doing some Intel.

She lays a lovely deep olive. My profile picture shows it in different lighting, but in real life, it's much more of a golden, warmer olive. Hard to explain but absolutely beautiful! I credit the depth of her egg color to her Mystic Marans heritage (the other parent is an Olive Egger I think), as I think the darker brown egg coloring imparts a darker olive green in offspring's eggs as opposed to a lighter, "mintier" green. I will also add that she is a stellar layer! Perfect med-large eggs, about 5-6 a week currently. She's a gem!
