Ok so bout 25 days ago I bought 12 naked neck hatching eggs. Well 9 went into lock down 1 I'm sure is dead in shell and we'll we'll are what the hatched chicks look like can u tell me if I was dinner over by the seller. Chick 1

Thanks for letting me know as I was getting a bit miffed that I might have been sold NN crosses which still might be possible but at lest I know there is a chance that they are just non naked naked necks lolFrom what I understand, naked necks have one or two copies of the gene for their featherless necks. One copy leads to a “bow tie” of feathers on the neck. This is a NN cockerel I sold a little while ago.

If a naked neck had two copies of the gene, it should have only NN offspring, though whether they are completely naked necked depends on whether the other parent is NN and whether they have one or two genes themselves. Two birds with just one copy would produce 25% ordinary offspring, which may be what happened with your chicks. Just a chance of the genetic recombination.
