Name that chick contest!

Ok so there is no prize but it sure sounds like fun. I have been searching online and through my catalogs trying to figure out which breeds I have here. I ordered 25 brown egg layers and 25 straight run RARE breeds from McMurray hatchery. I just can't hardly wait till they get big to know what they are. Tell me what you think!!!

Now I was worried at first but after googling the problem I have learned that these guys are most likely TURKENS so yah... I have 5 of them and they sure are ugly when they get big. Ugly is cute if you are the momma right?

I just recieved my chicks from Mcmurrays on July 2,2012,also. I was so impressed! They are so vigorous! I am using the QuickChik in their water, but I am also using the Immuno Charge (probiotics for chickens). They are eating non medicated feed, because I had them get the Coccidiosis and Mareks vaccines before shipping. You can't feed medicated feed when vaccinated...it kills the immune response that is generated by the vaccine. Sorry! I forgot myself...I tend to get a little wordy.

I think you've got some Rhode Island Reds (the orange ones), You may have some Dominiques or Marans, (the little black ones with the cream markings). The others I am not sure about...but if you go to their website and look at the package you bought-then go to each breed to look at the chicks for that breed you may be able to figure it out.

I am having so much fun with ours. It is very entertaining watching them. Today, I gave them a celery leaf to eat and they ran all over the place chasing the one with the leaf!
