Does anyone know the laws on chicken raising in town of Hempstead in Nassau county?

Sadly, no chickens are allowed in Hempstead. I even wrote to the town clerk in case the laws had changed but was told point blank, none! If you or anyone want to join forces to fight against this law, I would be thrilled. I'm dying to raise chickens.
