I have been keeping chickens off and on for years, but this last flock is going on 6 years.

I notice (I think) a pattern, in that my first couple of broody did not go broody until July. The last couple of years, they went broody about the end of May, first of June. I do not add artificial light.

Those of you that use broody hens, do you see a pattern in the time they go broody?

I think they follow the crazy weather pattern we've been having. This year they started brooding in February and hatching out in march (during snow storms) we had a mild winter though. They are already on their second hatch, which leaves plenty of time for a third, and even forth clutch. Craziness! Just crazy.
