I have been using this method, ever sine I tried it on our meat birds last year.
We make our own Kombucha, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kombucha , which is the yummiest stuff ever

.
I occasionally add it to our flocks water, just like you would add ACV, but when I notice "colds" coming on, they get a good dose of the stuff.

Last week, a good many in our flock were quite sniffly/bubbly/sneezy, when I went out to feed and water in the morning.
I went straight back to the house, filled our little one gallon waterer half way with water, and added one pint of Kombucha to it.

They sucked that stuff down fast, and by the next evening, all was well!
Perfect health ever since.

This is the same stuff that cured my really bad candida overgrowth within 10 days, and also cured my mothers gout in the same amount of time.

No, but you can get them one of these ways.
You can buy them from a few different online companies that sell ferment starters, the following link in this post being a good one,
http://www.cheeseslave.com/2010/02/17/new-podcast-fermented-foods-with-julie-feickert/ ,
or google search for others.
Or, you can ask around on Craigs list for a local person who makes it.
Most people will just give the scobys away, as they replicate themselves every batch.

My mother has an excellent tutorial on making Kombucha here....

It is very easy, and only costs pennies per gallon, versus buying the ready made bottles in the store for $5 per pint.

Here is the slide show, to accompany the written instructions

FYI, she accidentally miss spelled scoby for this post.

And a thread on favorite flavors for the people drinkers.

Chickens just like the fact that it has a nice bite to it

Wanted to add, that you can place a bit of a scoby on a wound or infection, and it will heal up fast.
