Gah!

My frizzled silkie is NOT a good mama. Her eggs pipped today and she kicked them all out of her nest and is still sitting on the ones that some other goofy silkie laid in their last week. So I took the new eggs away and stuck the pippers back in there. Checking every 10 mins to make sure she hasnt tossed them out again.

Egads!

Is she young? My broody silkie aborted her eggs once they started pipping, and hijacked the eggs in the next nesting box! I put them in the incubator to finish hatching. This was a first time broody...7 months old. I wonder if that makes a difference?

Yep, this is her 1st 'real' brood. She tried a few times earlier in the year and gave up after a day or two. No focus. LOL

Fortunately, I just picked up some 3 day olds and have them in the brooder so I can stick them in there for now. But the 3 days olds are standards so it'll be scary for this itty bitty silkies.
