I have a hen that every once in awhile gets some crazy idea that she is going to sleep somewhere other than the coop. Sometimes it will be on a patio chair or the table, sometimes she talks one of the other girls into join her rebellion.

I have enclosed the coop with a pen, and now that it is hot, I let them sleep with the doors of the coop open and set up a couple of perches if they wish to sleep outside of there. Of course, that is not good enough for her. She will get on the door or on top of the coop, where there is little room between the roof and the top of the pen. Then she decided the other night to fly up on top of the pen, which is a pain in the butt to get her down.

Anyone else have a naughty girl like this?

I have naughty hens and roosters. Almost every evening I have one or two (always different ones) that just do not want to return to the run or coop. I have to use treats, or herd them or sometimes I just let them be "out". I think it's because they are feeling overcrowded. We have three roosters that all get along, but chase the girls horribly right now. Today one of my easter eggers flew up on top of the run to get away from the rooster. I had to coax her down with treats. Those boys cause all the problems it seems!
:D Just what are we to do???

I have a drake that I had to make a separate pen for because he was raping the chickens and I think he hurt one of the ducks. He's a big jerk.

Maybe some of your girls have trained you to give them treats. :lau

I have a small group of naughty girls. 2 ring leaders though that mostly lead the others astray. They are the reason that free range time will be cancelled tomorrow as they insist of heading to the neighbor's property to build nests and lay eggs in his weeds/grass. So now that a bigger run has been erected they can suck it up & lay where I want them to vs me having to beat the bushes for eggs.

My husband says he wants a video because he wants to see the look on their faces when they can no longer make a break for places unknown to lay their eggs. Seriously it is like watching Olympic sprinters when those naughty girls head for the bushes taking a few extras with them.

Those are some naughty girls! They are going to so mad at you. They're probably going to be talking smack about you behind your back, now. LOL

I had a couple of girls that would only lay in a certain spot and I swear they would hold the egg in until they could get to it. I had to retrain them, so they had to stay in for a few days until they started laying where they were supposed to.

You have me thinking now. On days that there are only a few eggs and mama raccoon didn't get to them before me, I wonder if they are laying under some bushes...
