Glad to have this valuable resource as I'm getting started in NE Tennessee - almost Virginia. Almost North Carolina.
Currently have a RIR roo with two buff orpington hens, 3 black broiler hens from Ideal Poultry (kept as an experiment to see if I wanted to have chickens during winter - moved here from Phoenix area 2 years ago). Also have 14 of their eggs in NR360 - first incubator experience.
Raised some Cornish Cross end of last summer and family enjoys the dinners. Built a tractor to pasture them, but have to admit moving it twice a day at the end got old. Enjoy current chickens free ranging.
Also am raising Champagne D'Argent rabbits now.
Since I'm not young and "buff", decided to keep livestock small and easy to handle. Also less pounds of feed to deal with. Hoping to produce some of it from a good sized garden. Hoping.
Thanks for this opportunity to learn and grow!
