I went to the show today, it was really neat. They also are having it tomorrow mornin til noon, but I am not sure how many birds would be left, a lot were taking theirs home right after the judging today.
They had THE most beautiful mottled cochin hen I have ever seen, in pics OR in life. She was a doozy! And lots of birds for sale, oh my goodness. One sad looking pair had a silent auction bid of $6. By sad, I mean, they looked sad that no one wanted them, poor things. Its like they knew. They were pretty birds too. I had never been before, I guess they have it every year on this weekend, and folks come from all over. The birds were treated nicely, folks were runnin all over making sure they had food and water, unlike the fair, where they get too hot and run out of food/water and no one seems to mind. I was impressed.
Oh, and NO blue orpingtons! I wanted to see some in real life. Dang! Oh and I now I feel bad, cuz that abandoned bird I found on my front porch that I DIDNT rescue, I thought it was a darned piping plover, now I am pretty sure it was and young old english game bantam hen after seeing them. (Like kkrezik's (sp?) Lily that showed up in her yard. So now I feel like I didnt take care of a chicken that tried to come to me for help.
But anyhow, it was fun, well worth it.
