need a ittle advise

I've got my kids food and waterer elavated on the short plastic coke crates and it works really good keeping their bedding dry and cuts down on feed waste but the crates get really nasty and I thought about covering the crates with puppy pads and changing them out daily. I was going to hang but if i hang them when the "big" girls can't get in them my banties can't reach them so thats why i'm using the crates cleaning them is no biggy when it's not raining and not 30 degrees outside i don't have a place to clean them outside other than the water hose and i don't have anywhere inside to clean them this is when i really wish i had a bathtub

Chicks are very curious and "taste" everything. I do believe they will eat the puppy pads. I placed my feeder and waterer on a tupperware container to elevate it, just make sure it is stable.

I have my waterer and feeder on pavers set up like stepping platforms. The first paver has the feeder and then I have a larger paver behind it that they step up to for the waterer. They can access either from the side w/o being on the platforms (they can also be on the platforms if they choose) and it keeps the water clean with only occasional oopsies. I use a scraper for any platform poos and clean regularly.

I use coke crates too and they stay pretty clean , I wouldnt use the puppy pads
