i've got 10 7 week old chicks that still don't have a coop due to all the rain we've had the last few weeks and it's supposed to rain all this week too and they really need to go outside during the day and would return to the shop at night, I've got a big tent but it doesn't have a bottom my question is how to i turn this tent into a daytime coop/run and my biggest threat would be cats, i've got lots of ideas in my head but thought i post it here to see what you all thought.

With cats, it's going to be hard--a determined cat can claw/chew through tent-weight nylon in approximately 30 seconds. Maybe if you got some grading stakes and put a wire barrier 2-3 feet high at the bottom? Cats won't claw through the wire, so to get in they'd have to climb/jump over the wire into any gap between the tent wall and the wire, which would be a hell of a landing to pull off, even for a cat.

And some kind of toddler lock for the zipper/flap closure. I have a cat who can open a zippered flap faster than I can.

thanks i've got a natural born killer but so far he's just death on rodents and reptiles he's seen the chicks in the shop but doesn't give them a second glance it's mainly his sparing partner i've worried about if it clears off enough this week i'm going to try it out but for i'm in the process of making a "crib tent" type of thing for their brooder
