I have 4 Hens (I hope) I dont know what they are? I bought the 2 little ones from tractor supply and they were labled Pullets, and the red and black one came from a local farm. An ideas what they are and how they are? Behavior and egg laying?
Thanks

One other question I have red heat lamp on at night I live in Southwest Florida temps are around 60s at night. Can I stop the light? The young ones are about 7 weeks older ones around 10 weeks. And do they need a light in the closed part of coop where the egg boxes are?

Here is the coop ...right now I have heat lamp on the bottom. When They dont need the heat anymore, will they need some sort of light on all the time in there den ?

The black one looks to be an Australorp, the red one a RIR. Both pullets. They will lay light brown to reddish brown eggs, starting around 20 weeks. I am not familiar with the blue ones in the 1st pic.

They appear fully feathered at this time. The heat lamp is not required, esp. with night time temps that high. They do not need light at the nest box. They look good! Congrats on your new chicken adventure!

Save yourself some $ an turn off the heat lamp now. They like a nice dark area to lay eggs, looks like you have good natural light. That's a nice coop!

Thank u !

My wife wants white eggs what should i get ? Like I said I live in Venice, FL ...And can I get them now when these 4 are still young? Sorry for all the questions!

These will be brown egg layers. Getting white egg layers limits you to a few, typically flightier birds. Do some research before jumping on the easy to get Leghorn strains sold everywhere. It will take some time to locate breeds that lay white eggs and are still gentle and bear confinement well. Integrating a flock works best when the birds are of a similar size. There will be usual hen pecking and status fights, but they work it out in a few days, if they aren't over crowded.

Do the grey ones have white ears? if they do than they are Blue Andalusians, I love my Andalusian she is the sweetest chicken.
the red is a RIR and the black is an Austalorp.

Yes you can stop with to light, they will probably be happier without it.

What area in FL? I am in Broward county.

Andalusians lay white eggs and are not flighty.
