Good morning and thank you to anyone that helps me with this question.

I am going to make a 55 gallon water feeder for my chickens, however I also have chicks at various stages. I have a mini coop for the smaller chicks, but for the say 4-6 week old chicks that I am letting into the larger coop wit the adults will the water nipples be able to provide them water. In other words will the chicks be wise and strong enough to use the water nipples if that is all i will have in the coop to prevent and chicks from drowning in the water buckets I am currently using.

Thank you John in arizona.

P.S. I guess since this is my first article, I am not new to chickens. I have had them for years. I have about 50 chickens at this time with three sets of chicks coming up at various stages at this time.

Horizontal nipples or vertical?
It can take them awhile to get the hang of the HN's, even if they are strong enough.
I put out an open waterer at the end of the day just to make sure they are hydrated until I'm sure they 'get it'.
