need a recipe for beef short rib soup...

title says it all......dh had this as a kid but can't get the recipe, so if anyone has a recipe they don't mind sharing it would be wonderful. I have tried books but he can tell by looking at the recipe that it is not the same. If I could go to the original source I would, but since I can't I know there are LOTS of people that have great recipes here.......

i don't have a recipe, per say, but if it were me i'd roast those bad boys for a while, maybe with onions and carrots, deglaze the roasting pan with a bit of beef broth and dump meat and juice into the soup pot. add fresh onion, carrots and celery. salt and pepper to taste. let it simmer till the meat is falling off the bones, reseason if needed and serve. you could add whatever else you wanted--barley, more veggies etc
