To fed these chicks LOL. 75lbs of feed down, just picked up a 50lb bag today. Hard to believe 18 chicks can eat that much in 7.5wks time!

We go through 8 bags a week. That doesn't include BOSS, scratch, oats or treats.

They can get very pricey. Good thing we have a feed mill right behind our house!

I don't let them graze eat either, they don't have food in their coop at night and I refill their feeder once a day. If it was full all the time...omg I don't even want to think about how many bags we would have used by now, lol. Of course mine eat lots of real food too.

Scratch is a treat.

Scratch grain. You buy it at the feed store. It is for poultry. Mostly corn, oats & seeds. But don't give them much. Just throw it on the ground & let them forage for it.

Just remember with scratch it's like candy to kids. Your birds will love it but feed them to much they''ll get fat and won't lay.

It's more of a treat, up here in our cold winters we use it when they're outside on a cold day, throw it outside and they'll forage for it and burn off any calories from the scratch by the exercise they're getting in the cold.
