Need advice about cockerel please!

My Lav. orpington cockerel is not even 6 months yet and is crowing and covering the mature hens. I introduced a new hen (a big cochin) and the girls accepted her just fine. He covered her then started to peck the heck out of her! I tried putting her in the coop that evening and he had pecked her neck and comb so much I saw spots of blood on her feathers on her neck and on her comb it was so bloody that blood had dripped down her beak. I took him out because I have to get her in the flock without him being a bully. I have him separate in a pen that is next to their yard and all he does is pace back and forth. This has gone on for three days now. Last night was his first time in the crate. He stopped eating and drinking. His comb is starting to show he is dehydrated. I just don't know what to do with him and I don't want him going crazy when I put two younger pullets back with them all. I tried before and he just kept trying to cover them and they were scared silly. Someone said that if I kept him I could put him separate for awhile until he calms down. How long until he does calm down? I am seriously thinking of taking him to auction and just try to find a more mature roo that is nicer to the newcomers because I will have ALOT of new ones as soon as my chicks mature. I'm not using him for breeding. Just for a lookout and protector. All and any advice is appreciated!!!
