Need Advice! ASAP!

Again this will be our 4th year doing this so we aren't new to raising and doing the correct procedure for the chicks we get, we have never lost this much ever. We have not changed anything that we do every year. And again the only difference that I know of is the AG store has decided to go with a different breeder then it has in the last 10 years.

If they are a week old it should be at 95 degrees. Then drop to 90 the 2nd week.Being ina barn,it that a constant 90 degrees?Or does it go up and down with the daily temps? It has to be a constant 95 degrees.A 10 gree drop in temp can throw them into shock.I would call whomever you got them from and see if they are having the same problem. This happened to me with bobwhite quail,I called the seller and he informed me that his breeders had a sulfer deficiency.I gave them sulmet and everything was fine. You could also try vitamins and electrolytes in thei water supply.

The lamp is in the center of the brooder it stays 90 degrees all day long in that area. But when it gets 90 degrees outside they are able to move away from the heat as needed. Is just a bummer to keep watching more and more die and not understand how or what is going on.... Thanks for your advice we have electrolytes in the water now. Just see how this goes I guess hoping not to lose every single one!

Well thanks everyone for the advice we lost a total of 12 and the rest are fine. We called the AG store to report it and they said other people had been calling in also. Unfortantely due to us buying through the AG store not the breeder directly we don't get a refund or more chicks etc... I think our AG store will be going back to the orginial breeder they had. Happy the rest are healthy and thriving!
