WALDOBORO MAINE
I am having a 10x16 shed with a aframe roof built this week. plan is to have a 5ft double door on the front 10 ft wall. ten hole nest box on one 16ft wall a chicken door as well. the the roosts on the back 10ft wall using 2x4s flat side down. I was thinking of 3 windows one on each wall.

You cannot have too much ventilation. If these are glassed windows, remember heat gain when the sun shines through.

Lots of windows is always a good thing. I have excellent ventilation I think, but plan on adding more windows once the weather improves for better circulation in 80 - 100 degree Ohio summers. Most of my hens are heavy feathered, so the summer may be hard for them. Definitely add as many windows as you can.

We have three windows and vents at the top of all four sides, plus a pop door that is open most of the time, weather allowing.

I will use whole pallets leaving many slots open plus adding windows and vented roof. All my birds are cold hardy so I mostly need protection from the Georgia Summer.

Go for as many windows as you can. We're building an 8 x 10 coop and have been collecting windows for the past year. I plan on using as many windows as will fit on the coop. I'm a big believer in lots of natural ventilation and light.

I built a 10x12 for my birds and put 4 double hung window in it. Plus the slider door that leads to their ramp to get in and out. Plus the roof is set on 2x4's and lets plenty of air thru there as well.

+1 Windows are great to have! Open for ventilation in the warm months, closed in the winter for solar heating, and lets in good natual light. Plan on plenty of vents up as well (ideally that rains can't get in and moist air can flow out)

These double hungs were less than 20 bucks at home depot.

thanks for all the replys. a lot of good info. my coop build got delayed from the 6 inches of snow we got here Tuesday. maybe next week. I hope.
